FAQ

WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AGE FOR HATCHET THROWING?

The minimum age requirement for hatchet and axe throwing at Stumpy’s Hatchet House Cocoa is 18, with the exception of Family Sunday Funday (13+ when accompanied by an adult).  PLEASE NOTE: We have a zero-tolerance policy for underage drinking!

HOW DOES PLAYING START?

After about 15-20 minutes, most guests are hitting the target and honing in on the bullseye. When the group feels ready, it is encouraged to try a variety of hatchet and axe throwing target games. Instructions are in the pit, or you can ask a throwing coach. Want a head start on things? Check out the games here!

DO YOU SELL FOOD OR DRINKS AT STUMPY’S?

We do have a bar that serves beer, wine, hard seltzers, and non-alcoholic drinks. We don’t serve food, but you’re welcome to bring food in! Or, have food delivered from our Cocoa Village restaurants REC225 or the Village Biergarten…they’ll deliver right to your pit!

IS THERE A SPECIAL PRICE FOR LARGE GROUPS?

Please contact us if you are planning an event for a group of 30 or more, and we will discuss all your options.

DO YOU TAKE WALK-INS?

Though we will try to accommodate walk-ins whenever possible, it is not something we recommend. We’d hate for you to drive here just to be turned away! Due to the popularity of our hatchet and axe throwing bars, we are normally pretty booked with reservations, especially on the weekends! Our reservation system lists all available times for each day. If no times are listed, we will not have space for you on that date. (Sorry!) However, if we do have slots of open availability, we’d be happy to bring you in! If you call ahead of time, we can let you know if we can accommodate your group.

CAN PEOPLE COME WATCH?

Of course! Non-throwers are allowed to come join the social throwdown, though we will ask them to pay $15 plus tax, which includes a free drink from the bar (domestic beer or non-alcoholic drink). And non-throwers still have to meet age requirements.

HOW TO I START A HATCHET AND AXE THROWING BUSINESS?

Are you ready to BYOB? And this time we mean Be Your Own Boss! If you’ve been wanting to start your own business, why not join the $900 million-dollar indoor recreation market? A Stumpy’s Hatchet House will make your entrepreneurship dreams come true by investing in a "bullseye" business that started with one location in New Jersey and has grown to receive national publication interest and recognition all over the U.S.

Throwing sessions are in 1-hour and 2-hour time slots. We recommend arriving at least 10 minutes early, as your session begins promptly at the time you booked with a brief training session.

Be comfortable — it’s a sporting event after  all!  Please dress in loose, cool clothing when the weather is warm (which is 99% of the time here in Florida!). For safety purposes, no open-toe shoes or sandals. SANDALS OR FLIP FLOPS ARE NOT PERMITTED. If you forget, don’t sweat it…we do have shoes for sale!

HOW LONG DOES TRAINING TAKE?

Training takes about 10 minutes. This includes completing the waiver (if you haven’t done so prior to arriving), reviewing safety rules and procedures, and instruction on how to throw a hatchet.

Wanna get ahead of the game? Sign the waiver HERE before you come! With that completed, just show us the confirmation email you’ll receive and you can go right into training!

Please try to arrive 10 minutes before your reservation to get checked-in.

After about 20-30 minutes, most guests are hitting the target and honing in on the bullseye. When the group feels ready, they can try a variety of hatchet throwing games. Instructions are in the pit or you can “axe” a throwing coach. Want a head start on things? Check out the games HERE!

IS IT SAFE?

Safety is our highest priority at Stumpy’s. This is a very controlled environment and each person who enters must go through a brief training session before they are allowed to begin their time in the throwing pits.

If any participants in the throwing pit area are not following the rules, we reserve the right to terminate that participant from the area with no refund.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

Just yourself, closed toe footwear, and and AXEcellent attitude! No AXEholes allowed! We have everything you need here for your hatchet-throwing experience! We have a bar that serves beer, wine, hard seltzers, and soft drinks for purchase. Guests are also welcome to bring in their own snacks and/or order food delivery. CAN I RENT THE ENTIRE VENUE?

Stumpy’s Hatchet House is the perfect place for a private party! We have hosted many fundraisers, team building events, and other corporate events in the past. If you would like to have the whole place to yourself, please give us a call at (321) 735-8578 or send us an email at: info@stumpyscocoa.com with the type of event you wish to host in the subject of the email.

CAN KIDS COME TO THE PARTY?

Sorry, Stumpy’s is for big kids only – 18 and over every day EXCEPT Sundays! On Family Sunday Funday, children 13+ can attend with an adult.

DO YOU SUPPLY FORKS, PLATES, NAPKINS, IF WE BRING FOOD?

We ask that you bring your own plates and utensils, but if you run short or forget something, just “axe”!

We do have 6′ tables that we decorate with buffalo plaid table cloths, and we’ll be happy to place all of your food and snacks on those if you need extra space!

WHEN SHOULD I BOOK?

We recommend booking as far in advance as possible. Fridays and Saturdays typically fill up first, and Wednesday Ladies Night are always a big hit!

DO YOU TAKE WALK-INS?

Walk-ins are welcome, as long as we have availability.  We do always recommend a reservation…we’d hate for you to drive far and be turned away. Our reservation system lists all available times for the date. If no times are listed, we don’t have any space. (Sorry!)

WHAT IF I HAVE TO CANCEL?

We understand things come up and you may have to change your reservation. We just ask for you to notify us as soon as possible when you know you have to cancel or reschedule. If you give us at least 24 hours, we can reschedule you and transfer your deposit. We can refund or transfer your deposit if you cancel 48 hours or more in advance.

WHAT IF I’M (MY GROUP) IS LATE FOR THE RESERVATION?

Please call us if you are running late. We run a tight schedule that usually doesn’t give us much flexibility. Typically we are unable to make up the time you lost, but if we can, we will. Keep in mind that there will be no price adjustments if you lose time from your reservation due to being late.

ALL GUESTS MUST BE 18 OR OLDER TO ENTER AT STUMPY’S!

The only exception to this rule is our Family Sunday Funday (13+ when accompanied by an adult). Safety at Stumpy’s is our highest priority. Even though we love to have a good time, this is a very controlled environment and each person entering must go through a brief training session. Throwing coaches will instruct you on how to throw safely and will monitor the game. By following our rules and procedures and exercising common sense, you will enjoy a safe and fun activity at Stumpy’s!

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

For safety purposes, no open-toe shoes or sandals are permitted in the throwing pit area at Stumpy’s. Again– NO SANDALS OR FLIP FLOPS ARE PERMITTED. Otherwise, Be comfortable– it’s a sporting event!

CAN I BRING MY OWN HATCHET?

Sorry, you cannot bring your own hatchet (or axe, throwing stars, knives, etc). Our insurance policy requires all of the hatchets to be supplied by us…and we sure don’t want to get AXED by our insurance! 😉

If you are not following the rules it presents a hazard to everyone, and we reserve the right to TERMINATE YOUR EXPERIENCE for any reason, at any time, without reimbursement!

Each Stumpy’s Location has different regulations and information, please be sure to check each location page before visiting.
